Minae Kroeze and Shes Gone Viral

1)  When and where did you first see your roan, how did you end up with him as yours, and how long have you owned your roan?

Charlotte was bred and born at our farm! She is out of my mom’s retired show mare that she has owned since she was a yearling, she is 18 now. My parents saw Charlotte take her first breaths and I met her for the first time shortly after, she is five years old this year.

2)  Where, what level, and in what classes do you show your roan?

We show AQHA shows, mostly in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. I show her in the open HUS, my step dad(trainer) and mom show her in western pleasure. My mom will be adding the all around events this year.

3)  What is your favorite thing to do with your roan horse?

My favorite thing to do with Charlotte is to show her.  She is SO easy and I think she really enjoys being a show horse, so it makes it really fun. We also love to give her belly scratches, she’s like a big dog and gets offended if she’s not being loved on.

4)  What is your favorite memory with your roan horse?
I have two: My mom hadn’t shown in several years and this summer she was second in her huge WP class, just her second time showing Charlotte, she’s worked really hard and both my mom and Charlotte have overcome a lot to get there, so my heart was swelling with pride. Showing this horse has been a family affair so it makes it all that much more special when things go well. We also found out she was 8th in the Nation in Level 1 HUS in 2019, I showed her all summer as a pregnant amateur in the open and she took perfect care of me so I am really proud of our accomplishment.

5)  What are your thoughts about the American Roan Horse Association?

I love it! The roan world show was a lot of fun and there were many talented horses there. I think its great that its continuing to grow so quickly and that there are perks to showing a roan offered at affiliate shows. Its awesome that it is coming back so strong and that so many people are participating.
