Cooper Evans & Lazy Luvah Stallion
1. Tell me about yourself
“My name is Cooper Evans. I grew up in Wyoming and currently live in Utah. I started Star Performance Horses in 2012. We have a mast over 400 and reserve world champions. I love the pattern classes and the Ranch riding. As far back as I can trace my genealogy, my family has always had horses. I grew up on a cattle ranch where we used horses several times a week. We were stock contractors for rodeos.”
2. Tell me about your horse
“Lazy Luvah by Lazy Loper out of the mare Luv Me Good (Zippos Mr Goodbar) 15.2 HH Bay Overo Stallion HYPP PSSM HERDA MH OWLS IMM N/N GBED N/G E/e A/A Rn/rn Splash N/SW 1 One Copy of 35 Color Gene”
3. What are your horse’s accomplishments?
“Lazy himself has multiple world champion, futurity, and honor roll titles in Longe Line, Western Riding and Western Pleasure. Last year he recently returned to the show pen in new classes, Ranch Riding and Ranch Pleasure; earning points and more accolades. He also returned to the Western Riding arena, not missing a beat! He will continue to do so until he tells us he’s ready for re retirement but so far loving returning to work. His offspring have also proven to be competitive show horses. Multiple World and Reserve World Champions, Futurity Earners, Honor Roll Title holders and more in the All Around Events within multiple divisions(Open, Amateur and Walk Trot).”
4. How many foal crops has your breeding program produced?
“Our first experimental foal crop was 2016 with one personal mare bred in 2015. We expect roughly 25 foals for the 2025 foaling season. Nearly 50 percent of Lazy Luvah’s overall offspring hold a show record.”
5. What are favorite crosses on your stallion?
My current favorite crosses are Zippo Sensation, Invitation Only, and A Good Machine to name a small few. In my honest opinion though, I feel as if each one that has been bred has filled the shoes for what purpose it was bred for, whether that is for showing and competing in the all-around events or filling the hearts as a pasture pet to carry on the lineage for a personal mare.”
6. What cross are you hoping to try and why?
I would love to continue to gather and building on the strong Zippo Sensation lines but am eager to see him crossing on some ranch, reining and cow bred mares. I think he could help clean up some movement and conformation while the mares could introduce a very different side of athleticism to a stallion who is very game to participate in different events. His offspring have continued to share these like qualities and characteristics in and out of the show pen, while also being pretty to look at!”
7. What programs does the horse participate in?
