Aly Cvitoka and Iwasbornlucky, aka "Phoenix"

Story by: Kris Cvitoka

My daughter Aly started riding when she was 6 years old and had an older gelding who taught her the ropes. When she was 11 we started looking around for a younger horse and went to see Phoenix at Monica Anderson Performance horses.  She was 3 years old at the time but very manageable for Aly and she choose Phoenix, and I think Phoenix picked her too.

We've owned Phoenix for almost 2 years now and Aly and Phoenix participate in open shows, 4H, and Pinto (Roan classes) shows in youth and novice youth classes.  At each show they enter Halter, Western Showmanship, English Showmanship, Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, English Equitation, and Western Horsemanship.

At their first year together at our county fair Aly and Phoenix won Grand Champion at halter as well as 1st and 2nd placings in English and Western Pleasure classes.  They qualified for the Wisconsin State 4H Horse Expo and received a Reserve Champion in English Halter and Top Ten in English Pleasure.  We have a lot of show plans for 2018 for Iowa Pinto shows that have Roan classes, larger open shows, and 4H events.

Aly’s favorite thing to do with Phoenix is to compete in Western Pleasure classes, but her favorite memory with her is winning reserve champion at the State 4H Expo.  She is excited to be a member of the ARHA because she loves Phoenix and her unique coloring and loves to show her off whenever she can.
